In August, we introduced you to an exclusive collection by Saroka, an Australian brand available in the U.S. only at SENSEofSHELF.com. By this point, you’ve come to know and love the aesthetic of the Rommy Top, so we wanted to take a moment to dive deeper into the brand and their process.
Saroka was founded in 2015, by designer Melinda Andaloro. Each piece takes into account and celebrates the fact that every womxn is unique—through expert tailoring and high-quality fabric and trims—the brand ensures that each garment makes the wearer feel confident.
So, who’s behind Saroka!? The brand is entirely run by Melinda, yup, we love a one-womxn show here at SENSE of SHELF! Melinda designs, sources, photographs, packages, etc. etc. etc. so every detail is overseen with love.
When it comes to patternmaking and dressmaking, Melinda outsources to four womxn based locally in Melbourne! The manufacturing process is geographically centralized—from design to patternmaking, to cutting and sewing—it all happens right in the local area.
Saroka lays focus on slow and sustainable fashion. For that reason, each garment is made-to-order, eliminating fabric and stock waste. For the purposes of the exclusive partnership with SENSE of SHELF, select colors of the Rommy Top are available in extremely limited quantities on the site and are ready-to-ship!
We’re the only U.S. retailer carrying Saroka, but Melinda does ship internationally! So, if your size has already sold out, you can still order directly at saroka.com.au!!
